What to Expect

Arrive With Confidence

When you arrive, you can check in via the app or right in the studio. Benches and cubbies are available at the front for personal items, and props and the restroom are located in the back. Students are welcome to bring their own mats and props, or use ours.

Please turn off your cell phone before class. If you are expecting an emergency, alert the teacher beforehand and be mindful of others’ practice.

New to Yoga

Yoga is for everyone. Whether you're 18 or 80, flexible or not, yoga meets you where you are.

It’s about connecting with your body and breath, not achieving a perfect pose. At Golden Root Yoga, we create a space where you can explore movement, find balance, and build strength, on your own terms.

FAQs

Can I join a yoga class if I’m not flexible?

Absolutely! Our classes are designed for all levels, whether you’re very flexible or just starting out. Teachers provide modifications and guidance so you can safely participate and gradually increase your strength, balance, and mobility.

Bring a mat if you have one, and wear comfortable clothing that allows full movement. We provide mats for $3 rental and props like blocks, straps, blankets, and bolsters. Water is also recommended to stay hydrated.

Wear clothes that are comfortable, breathable, and allow you to move freely. Classes are done barefoot; socks are optional but may slip in more active sessions. The right clothing helps you focus on movement rather than adjusting your outfit.

Arriving 10–15 minutes early gives you time to check in, set up your mat, and get settled. This helps you start your practice calm and focused.

Yes! Please inform your instructor before class begins about any injuries or concerns. Teachers offer modifications to keep your practice safe and comfortable while still allowing you to enjoy the benefits of yoga and Pilates.

Late Arrival Policy

To support a smooth start and a focused experience for everyone, we ask that students arrive on time for class.

If only one student is registered and no one has arrived within 5 minutes of the scheduled start time, the teacher may close the studio and leave.

If you are running late, we kindly ask that you notify us as soon as possible so we can keep the door unlocked and reserve a space for you at the back of the room. Without notice, you may be locked out once class has begun. Late arrivals without communication can be disruptive to those who arrived on time and to the overall flow of class.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us care for the shared rhythm of practice at Golden Root Yoga.

You can sign up through our app, website, or at the studio. While walk-ins are welcome when space allows, registering ahead ensures your spot, especially for popular classes.

We understand that plans can change. Please refer to our cancellation policy depending on your purchase type, or contact us directly for assistance with rescheduling.

Our classes focus on physical postures, breathwork, and mindfulness. While yoga has spiritual roots, we do not teach religion. The practice is about connecting with your body and mind, not beliefs.

B.K.S. Iyengar in Light on Yoga, states, “Yoga is not a religion by itself. It is the science of religions, the study of which will enable a sadhaka the better to appreciate his own faith.”

Your first class will introduce you to basic postures, breath techniques, and flow. Instructors provide guidance and modifications, so you can participate safely at your own level while still feeling challenged and supported.

You’re welcome to bring your own mat and props, but we provide everything you need, including mats, blocks, straps, blankets, and bolsters. Mats are available for $3 rental if you don’t have one.

Classes vary in pace and style, from steady flows to energizing sessions. Teachers offer modifications and cues to help you safely navigate poses, whether you’re seeking gentle alignment work or a more dynamic workout.

We understand life happens. If you need to leave before class ends, please do so quietly and respectfully so as not to disturb other students. If possible, let your teacher know ahead of time.

It’s completely normal to feel that way! Our instructors create a welcoming space and encourage questions before or after class. Focus on your own practice, follow the guidance, and know that everyone starts somewhere.
